Future Filmmakers
The WYO Film Festival, based in Sheridan, Wyoming, established the Future Filmmaker program in 2020 to foster creativity and nurture Wyoming’s next generation of storytellers. Sheridan County students work with professional filmmakers in a variety of roles with the ultimate goal of developing their own unique stories to tell on the big screen. As a program of the festival, the WYO Film Fest is proud to screen the student films as part of the festival’s original programming each year.

Our Work
Outside Voice founder, Breton Shepherd, has been working with the WYO Film Festival since the inaugural fest in 2018 and now Outside Voice continues to support the festival’s work today. When the festival was launching the first student filmmaker program in 2020, there was only one way for us to tell the story and it was through film. We rounded up a few students, parents, and program leaders for interviews on their final day of shooting before wrapping up their year-long film project. Our work showed before all film screenings during festival weekend that year and helped garner future community support.
