The Challenge
Founded in 2014, Raising Nebraska, is a 25,000-square-foot, interactive educational center dedicated to agricultural literacy. As one of the nation’s premier agriculture learning experiences, it’s a collaboration between the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Nebraska Extension, the Nebraska Department of Agriculture, and the Nebraska State Fair. Raising Nebraska’s mission is to deepen understanding and appreciation of where food comes from, engaging young people, families, educators, and industry stakeholders alike. Raising Nebraska sought a website overhaul to better highlight its unique programs and events, statewide partnerships, and growing capacity as a venue. While Raising Nebraska aims to connect audiences to Nebraska’s agricultural leadership through exhibits and experiences, its previous website fell short in effectively communicating these offerings and engaging its diverse visitors. Additionally, the site lacked a responsive design that could seamlessly serve users on all screen sizes.

The Solution
To achieve our objectives, Outside Voice developed a comprehensive approach that began with discovery and research, involving in-depth stakeholder interviews with the Raising Nebraska team, educators, and industry partners to understand user needs and identify key messages. This was followed by a user-centered design phase focused on creating a clean, intuitive layout that appeals to both children and adults, ensuring information is accessible and easy to navigate. Concurrently, Outside Voice collaborated with Raising Nebraska to refine messaging, making it resonate with both visitors and agricultural industry partners. Finally, a technical solution was implemented by building the site on a user-friendly CMS platform and theme, empowering the Raising Nebraska team to manage content updates and independently add new pages, blog posts, or event details as needed.
The Results
Outside Voice’s web design for Raising Nebraska has transformed the brand’s digital presence into a dynamic tool that drives its mission forward. The new engaging and accessible platform enables Raising Nebraska to connect more meaningfully with visitors, educators, and partners, ensuring it continues to educate and inspire future generations. The addition of an educational blog extends their mission of ag literacy beyond the walls of their education center, reaching a broader audience online and sparking interest in agriculture across communities far and wide.
